My NY

I was in NY for a few days last week, mainly doing shopping (we'd all done the sights before). I haven't been on holiday abroad in a while and it was nice to see that some things hadn't changed: they still think cramming people into planes is a good idea; US customs, while more high-tech, still has no sense of humour or desire to be nice to visitors; airline food still sucks and when it rains in NY, boy does it rain.

Not much to tell, but I did take some photos (not many), some of which are/were designed to be like those of Michael Wolf who I wrote about recently. Incidentally, the Nat Sherman ones were proof for a friend of the family who deals with them who didn't believe we'd seen their store on 5th.

We did get a limo ride to and from the airport (competition prize), which is the first time I've been in a limo, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The hotel we stayed in, the Park Central, was well worth not bothering with (crappy service, not overly nice inside, fairly pricey) should you be headed NY way.

And, lastly, a quick run through of the movies I watched and my thoughts on them:

Closer
Nice enough to watch but didn't have me wanting more, or to watch it again.

Miss Congeniality 2
Suprisingly alright. Funny, but leave your brain at the door.

Be Cool
The rest of the family enjoyed it but I found it strictly mediocre.

Garden State
Funny, witty and charming, one to watch.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
It starts off okay, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow are good, but it just goes off the rails into insane-OTT-plot-world for the second half.

Shaolin Soccer
I only got to watch half of this but it didn't draw me in, looked budget and seemed to think that special effects would save it.
