I think this book was necessary to the story. I personally found the 5th book quite frustrating - i think it was overlong and had a climax that didn't hold many more revelations than those we expected. I also never liked the way Sirius was killed because since his introduction in the 3rd book, his character had done absolutely nothing. That said i liked the way the book had grown up.

I was personally dissapointed the more adult style was not continued through to the half blooded Prince. It seems swearing was completely taken out as well as a lack in true expression of the characters - this left me not caring so much about them. This book in my eyes was not long enough and did not contain enough plot material - the kids would also be more mature by now. The ending was excellent though - i also believe there will be a twist to come in the final book relating to the ending of this one. In many ways this was a necessary 'link-through' story on the way to the climax that is coming. Overall it was just as enthralling as the other books and i think everyone should read it.

One thing i will say though is that JK 'understandably perhaps' hasn't quite got the teenage boy mentality right, because in the early stages of the book Harry doesn't come over to well - in fact i stopped liking him so much for a couple of chapters - i don't know if anyone else found this?

Eragon! that's the new LOTR(Lord of the Rings) by far the best. I love it! Although I'm not sure on what par it relates to HP, it is such a good book. I think although HP is really well plotted, this book leaves us to explore the edges. It rocks! READ IT!
