Isolated tribe spotted in Brazil
I find it amazing tribes like this still exist, isolated from the rest of the world, living the same as they have done from hundreds, maybe thousands of years.
Imagine what they must have thought of the plane!
The pictures are worth a look.
Should we leave Eurovision?
The UK came 25th in last night’s Eurovision contest, out of 25. We didn’t have a great song, true, but it was better than a few of the others that scored much higher.
What became obvious was the now political nature of voting in Eurovision, with all of the Baltic states voting for each other, [...]
Troy: Fall Of Kings
David Gemmell sadly passed away before he completed this final book in his Troy trilogy. His wife, Stella, took what David had written to date, plus his notes and finished the book. Some people may have been apprehensive about what this would mean for the story but I think it’s fair to say [...]
When adverising bad guys become real
Someone with a similar name to the ‘bad guy’ in Domino’s adverts walked into Domino’s with a .357 and held it up.
I’m not sure I believe it but if it’s true that’s a hell of a story.
Fuel-Hungry Pirates Steal Used Cooking Oil to Run Their Cars
With the price of fuel seemingly only going one way, I think we’re likely to see more and more of this.
Ships bring water to parched Barcelona
The reservoir that feeds Barcelona is holding 18% of its capacity. A sign of global warming? Who knows, but if the global warming evangelists are right we may see a lot more of this in the future.
Who will write tomorrow’s code?
Bill Thompson asks the question of why more people aren’t being encouraged to enter computer science with a view of coding.
Personally, I think more of the code in the future will be written by non-programmers and that we need to develop new tools, languages and libraries to allow anyone to bolt some parts together and [...]
No, I’m the greatest - it’s all about boasting
Interesting article about how the Brits, traditionally known for their reserve and understatement, are having to learn to “big themselves up.”
I am a typically understated person, I don’t like blowing my own trumpet as it were, but I think not doing so has marked me down in a few job interviews and meant I didn’t [...]
Troy: Shield Of Thunder
The second in the excellent trilogy and another one well worth a look with fantastic story and great characters.
