Who will write tomorrow’s code?

Bill Thompson asks the question of why more people aren’t being encouraged to enter computer science with a view of coding.

Personally, I think more of the code in the future will be written by non-programmers and that we need to develop new tools, languages and libraries to allow anyone to bolt some parts together and produce software, why limit software to a select group who are going to have a limited outlook when someone from without programming knowledge may be able to solve a problem specifically because they don’t think the same way?
